ABOUT US

We are a club for people interested in ferrets, all aspects of good ferret care and welfare. We are based in Rutland county and the surrounding area.
How did it begin...?
Rutland Ferret club started as it means to go on – with friends.
Lisa, Kevin, their son Kyle, and Liz, Paul all shared one interest – ferrets! Lisa and Liz first met in the pet shop that Liz worked at & the friendship grew from there. Lisa's knowledge and good advice (and with a little help from Stitch – one of Lisa's ferrets) helped Liz decide that ferrets were for her. After a lot of search Liz acquired 2 male kits. Liz started visiting Lisa's house after work with her 2 kits, so that they could play with some of Lisa's own ferrets.
Lisa taught Liz essential things like cleaning ears, trimming claw – all the things you can really only learn from first hand experience.
A few months down the line, Liz & Lisa's friendship and knowledge grew stronger and they both decided they wanted to share what they had with other ferret owners and the general public in their local area. Although Rutland is a rural area, not a lot of people have or know about what brilliant pets ferrets make, and Lisa & Liz aim to change this, with a little help from other ferret owners.
